Been doing a very very very lax 16:8/18:6 for almost a year now (which worked for me to build the habit so I didnāt get burnt out). This month, I finally decided to try adding a 6-day/week sugar restriction (my biggest vice!!) and start working out more consistently (instead of my once-every-other-month manic āoh fuck iām fatā workout sesh). Iām also going to be more consistent with IF and restricting alcohol (most times, when I donāt start a fast on time, itās because of alcohol š„¶)
This is the first time Iāve ever seen the scale go down in my adult life and Iām glad I found a way to make it a long-term habit. A year of keeping a habit is a pretty cool thing! This sub has been super inspiring! I feel like Iām so much less controlled by food and amazed at what my body is capable of (after ābody positivityā kinda ruined any motivation/agency I could have had for a couple of years, paired with some grief and family issues it was a recipe for disaster).
I actually hadnāt even thought about what weight moves me from an āoverweightā BMI to a ānormalā BMI so thanks for the inspiration! Just looked it up and have added it as a specific milestone in my tracking doc :)
Love to hear how you made IF a lifestyle change. I am hoping to eventually be more lax about it, but I panicked in January when my scale showed me a number Iād never seen before. If I feel any signs of burning out (currently doing 42 hour fasts) I will pull back to 23:1 OMAD or even 18:6 if I need to. Some form of IF is definitely my normal now, canāt imagine eating 3 meals per day!
Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work!
Itās sounds like youāve done a magnificent job making IF a part of your life, and that you know what dials to turn to continue to see progress.
Congratulations on all of your success and new habits āØ
