OMAD Calorie

I’ve started doing one meal a day but I don’t think I’m eating enough. My meal is between 400-700 calories and was wondering what everyone else’s calorie count look like. I’ve had a killer headache for the past few days so it’s either I’m not eating enough or there is a big storm coming.

Answer

You’re not eating enough. My omad days are still close to 2000 calories: Giant salad, few slabs of fish, can of sardines, side of olives, an avocado, couple slices of cheese (the good stuff).

My TDEE average is 3100 on average. 2000 is about 2/3rds of that.

But don’t diet on omad. Omad is a diet. Eat your fill. One plate of healthy stuff and skip the sugar.

Answer

You are not eating anywhere near enough. You need to be getting the full day’s worth of calories in that meal. It should be a big meal. Use this TDEE calculator to figure out what your target should be to lose weight (assuming that’s your goal): take the “maintenance calories” number it gives you and subtract 500, to lose 1 pound of fat per week.

If you’re getting full before you have eaten enough, you can try adding more healthy fats to your meal. Some nuts, olive oil, or avocado will bump up your calorie count without much extra food volume. Or you can switch to a slightly longer eating window like 20:4 and split your meal into two.

Answer

I get headaches when I’m dehydrated. My best guess is that you are dehydrated too, you need to realise that eating less food means less overall water intake as well. So you need to up your water intake drastically to compensate!
