Not my first fast - longest was 10 but that was an ass whipping, although I wasn’t paying close attention to salt and electrolytes that time. I’ve done several 6 - 8 week cycles of keto as well, which I think has helped. I showed ketones at 2.5 by day 2, and 4.5 on day 4, so I seem to have adapted well from lots of practice. Overall I’ve felt great. Sleep has been deep and restful, getting around 8-9 hours a night, but damn is it tough getting going on the mornings. Wish I’d thought about using an app to help track and motivate me but didn’t think about it until I got on this sub last night. I noticed some light headedness getting up today, but no biggie. My go to tonic is water, a shot of apple cider vinegar, a teaspoon of cream of tartar for potassium, and about a teaspoon and a half of Himalayan sea salt. Mix and slam. Taste like salad dressing lol. It will add some good electrolytes and get me back up and at em when I start feeling weak. Good luck to all you fasters out there getting after it. We got this. I’m on call today, so if I’m sucking too much on a job I’m going to have to break, but here’s to ringing in the New Year clean and lean! I needed this so much. Haven’t been very kind to my body the last few months. High stress, too much alcohol, not enough exercise, and occasional cigarettes had me feeling like crud. I’m ready to begin again, and take on next year with clarity and focus. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
I find that longer fasts, up to 5 days, are harder now than before. It may be the weather, it may be less fat to lose, it may be all in my head.
I broke my latest 42 hour fast yesterday instead of plowing through to this evening. Oh well, starting up again on the 1st or 2nd. I need to mix things up more and I really need the weather to get sunnier and warmer so I can exercise too. Those long, hilly walks in a fasted state did me a world of good.
