Still bloated after 48 hour fast

I’ve been permanently bloated for a few years now and I thought to try a 48 hour fast but I noticed 0 difference.

I’m thinking maybe I need to fast for a longer period of time.

Any thoughts from people who were in a similar bloated situation?

So I use to have this problem for years. You need to restart your gut biomes. I strongly recommend kambucha. Drink 8-12 oz every morning for a week (or forever). Also mix in sour crout and kimchi in the afternoon with your dinner.

I spent $1,000’s trying to figure this out. Please learn through my suffering.

Probably food allergies? I can’t do milk so if I eat ice cream I know the culprit. You could bang out a 72 (personally will never go longer, though I went 8 days in college but that’s dangerous especially the way I did it) and then do an elimination diet to fish out your suspected allergy

Congrats on your 48hs fast! I have experienced bloating but it does tend to disappear after being constant with IF for a month at least.

Maybe instead of doing 48hs in one go, you could try 20:4 with clean nutrition in your window avoiding allergens.

Success!

I can fast how much I want but once I ingest something I’m sensitive too the bloat and bad stomach will stay for up too a week where I have to be extremely careful with what I eat to get rid of it.

Fun thing to add: I can normally drink coffee without any problems, but as soon as I have triggered my intestines coffee is a big no no. It’s like it gets extra sensitive.

I recommend you too try out IBS foodmaps. See if it changes anything after a month with it (without cheating). And also have a food diary with bloating and poop in it to be able to see what it can be that triggers you.

Fasting is not the way to get rid of these problems, sure they let your stomach rest. But it can also cause a stress on your body, especially with your already low weight, and only make it worse.

I would go for a longer fast, when I am bloated because I binged on carbs for 1-2 weeks I need a few days to make it disappear, so after years I guess you will need a bit more than 48h but I am confident that’s the way to go and fast will definitely help you, good luck!

Answer

I’ve been reading up on food intolerance as I intend to do an elimination diet. The advice I have gathered so far is that if bloating is food related it can take up to 3 weeks to go away. Most elimination diets advise 3 weeks of plain diet before adding in possible trigger foods. If you do have intolerance to certain foods then 48 hour isn’t enough time.

Answer

Id get an opinion just in case you are intolerant to something. Then from there get an opinion on a colon cleans or a professional enema. You could have some built up gunk in there but it wont help if youre having some sort of reaction
