For some background, I’ve been trying to lose weight for a really long time. I’ve been lurking on this sub for support and tried all the fasting methods: cold turkey not eating for 2 days of the week, intermittent fasting and only eating between a few hours, and even OMAD.
I’ve tried dieting, and I’ve tried going to the gym. The issue is, I just don’t have the discipline myself to do it, and I get discouraged when I don’t see results. There have been some digital health companies popping up that have venture backing and seem pretty legit that offer both medications to ensure weight loss, but also 1 on 1 accountability coaching to make sure I stick to what I say I’ll do. They’re kind of pricey, but I just saw some ads for these online weight loss programs like Calibrate (joincalibrate.com), and Alfie (joinalfie.com). Has anyone tried to use one of these programs for getting help with their weight loss? I am really tempted to try Alfie, but just wanted to post here for anyone’s advice.
Does anyone try one of these programs while fasting or because they failed at fasting? I just want some advice from y’all before I sink money into this.
This was my point a few posts back. If you don’t fix your relationship with food along with fasting, once you’re no longer doing fasting, you’re going to run into the same issues. Food issues tend to follow us around from the time were kids, so those habits are very hard to break.
If you dont have the motivation to work out or eat healthy, that’s something to work on. Start with small goals - i.e. walk three times a week while listening to your favorite podcast, audio book, or new album.
Have you tried tracking everything you eat? MyFitnessPal is free and I started by not even dieting, just writing down everything I put in my mouth. CICO came naturally after I was already tracking. Then IF. I don’t workout at all because of health reasons. You can see my progress photos on my profile.
I’d say go for it. You know what you’ve tried. People here sometimes give people shot for not trying hard enough, but in the end of the day, intermittent fasting only works for like 10% of people. I actually like Alfie a lot - the focus on men is needed because they struggle the most.
