Answer

Yes, definitely there could be adverse effects, such as headaches and poor mood. Also there’s a good chance that you’ll feel really hungry. In my experience, all of these symptoms are less severe/non-existent if you ease into longer fasts.

I think your mental toughness would be better applied to the discipline it takes to consistently do IF over a long period of time, as that’s how you’ll see results. Why don’t you try a week of 16:8 and see how you feel?

If you’re dead set on starting with this 2 day fast (which I don’t recommend), then make sure to hydrate plenty. Also, look into consuming electrolytes with the water. The headaches are usually a symptom of dehydration, which is more likely because you won’t be getting electrolytes from your diet.

Answer

I wish you all the luck and fortitude but rarely does one learn to ski on an the double black diamond slope or swim by jumping ship on their cruise liner.

You might be better practiced if you attempted fasting 18hrs at a time for a week while you learned the ins & outs and your body acclimatized.

But again, I wish you all the success. Also, lick a little table salt around the 36hr mark.

Answer

When you do a prolonged fast you must drink electrolytes. Potassium chloride and sodium are the main two. You can mix them up in about 2 L of water. If you don’t drink your electrolytes it’s actually very dangerous.
