Do I need to do extended fast ?

Hello everyone! I’ve been doing OMAD for almost 3 years now. I’ve dropped from 250lbs to about 160 lbs at my lowest. I also did dirty keto while fasting.

I recently gained about 20-25 over the last year while I continued to do OMAD. Not all of it is is bad weight as I believe I gained some muscle. The problem I’m having now is OMAD is really just to easy for me. It’s like second nature. And as my I’m cutting (lost around 8lbs so far) I think my body is to adapted to OMAD.

Do I need to do more extended fasts occasionally like a 48 hour fast? Could be resting metabolism be hurt for fasting for so long ?

Answer

I don’t have any great tips on how to start no, sorry. 48-72 hrs is a really tough part mentally and it’s basically just gritting your teeth to get to day 4 in my experience. Once you get that far, hunger is completely eliminated and you feel like a demi-god. You’re energized, light, cheerful, proud of yourself, and just all-around wonderful. If you keep your electrolytes balanced and drink enough water, it’s not very hard past day 4. There’s moments randomly, but nothing as hard as bad 2-3.
