Dry mouth?

Hello all. I have been doing IF for about 3 weeks now. Mostly 18:6. My mouth and lips have been super dry, despite drinking tons of water. Has anyone gone through this and does it eventually diminish? Any tips? TIA!

Answer

Dry mouth can be a sign of diabetes and also a side effect of certain medications. If your water intake is adequate, I would advise you to see a doctor.

Dry mouth can also lead to serious dental issues including rapid and widespread decay and gum disease issues. Seeing a dentist to check your teeth and discuss things you can do to help avoid these issues is a good idea.

Good luck OP!

Edit: also Sjögren’s syndrome’s main symptom is dry mouth

I get this too. I’m on 20:4. I drink a lot of water but also urinate a lot. Do you drink a lot of coffee and does your diet lean more towards low-carb/high protein? Trying to figure out a solution, too.
