Fasting with bone broth

What are your thoughts and/or experiences with bone broth fasting?

I know that the fasting purists will tell me that it isn’t really fasting, but bone broth does pack a very nutritious punch despite being mostly water, and it can certainly make fasting easier.

Answer

I forage for mushrooms so I have mushroom broth. Birch boletes pack a heck of a flavor punch, super tasty, and oddly very filling. 100 grams of dehydrated mushrooms have 26 calories, all it takes is 2 grams to make one cup so less than 1 calorie.

Answer

Limit your feeding to as small a window as possible. There is a big difference between drinking broth all day, versus having a cup or two once per day. You want to give yourself time to let your gut rest.

I do all my fasts with bone broth now. Helps me get enough sodium in, it feels like a meal, is filling and makes me feel overall better. Last fast in January, 1 week, lost 4 kgs. On day 2 of a one weeks bone broth-fast now. Still take other electrolytes, including calcium. I have done multiple waterfasts before.Do what works for you!
