Gaining weight instead of loosing weight?

Hi! I’m 26 F and I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) which messes up my hormones and causes me to gain weight. I’ve been on an 14:10 fasting window for 50 days now but instead of loosing weight, i think i’m gaining weight? I often go OMAD too like for 2-4 times a week. Although I can’t say for sure since i don’t have a weighing scale and i cant bring myself to buy one (im scared to see a scale because of body image issues) but my clothes are getting tighter.

I really don’t have time to work out either but i’m gonna try. But for anybody here who has PCOS, although I know your solution may not be my solution, do you have any tips?

I am not a doctor, but I will say this. Working out is great for getting stronger, getting faster and getting more energy. But for weight loss, it doesn’t really do as much as people think. Diet is 90%.

You can always track calories and slowly go longer, personally 23/1 fits me really well and I am the lightest and happiest I have ever been. I don’t track calories but I imagine I never eat more than 1200-1500 on any given day.

I have PCOS as well. I personally follow 16:8 or 18:6 and limit myself to 2 meals a day. Typically low carb. I also try to add as much fiber as I can. Part of my first meal typically includes chia seed pudding ( 1 cup almond milk + 2 tbsp of chia seeds with 1/8-1/4 cup of blueberries or blackberries). I typically have 2 eggs with 2 pieces of bacon in addition to the pudding. I’ve been reaching a lot about PCOS and a lot of doctors say getting enough fiber is crucial with regulating hormones with PCOS. 20g+ daily is suppose to help regulate hormones. There are a few medical studies around fiber.

PCOS is no fun and it’s a slow and steady race to understand what works for your body vs. others. IF is beneficial for everyone. I’d check out Dr. Fungs book it helped a lot and there is a ton of information on YouTube with other Drs. Sharing similar info.

Answer

Yes, why is your insulin levels so high? Has your metabolic syndrome damaged your liver with fatty liver and fibrosis yet? What are your doctors doing to reverse your metabolic disease? PCOS is a symptom not a cause of your problems. What is your fasting insulin level & glucose? Humans are not test tubes controlled by calories.
