Getting electrolytes in other ways

I have done a lot of ADF fasting in the past and just took some salt directly by mouth without putting it in water to drink. This year I am doing an extended fast and wonder if I should also consider supplementing potassium.

Can I also just take that by mouth directly by putting some on or under my tongue like I do with sodium? I loathe the salty brine drinks that are usually recommended and wonder what other options I have.

Thanks for any help. I’m pretty sure this is my first post here!

Answer

I hate the salty solutions that people make so i decided to trick myself into making a spicy no substance soup.

I add the 4 salts to hot water and add a little spices like turmeric, paprika, chilli powder, garlic powder. No proteins. So instead of being brine it becomes a soupy tasting water. I put that in a flask and sip it all day.

Answer

Not really answering your question sorry but to me potassium tastes absolutely vile. There is no way I can take it by putting under my tongue. Its not at all like salt, it has a metallic somewhat weirdly bitter taste (at least to me).
