How do I not gain the weight back?

Hello beautiful fasters,

I have been practicing fasting for a bit now. I went from intermittent fasting daily to 2 day fasts and last week I progressed to a 3 day fast. My problem is that I keep gaining all the weight back after my fasts. I eat keto when I’m not fasting and I feel like my refeeds have been on point- a little bit of meat & lots of veg & I usually do omad. I made a point not to go overboard this last refeed because I was very determined not to gain the weight back. I started the fast at 146lbs. I ended it at 142lbs. Four days after the fast ended I was back to 146lbs. I am fasting for weight loss and I am 10lbs away from my goal of 135. I realize it gets harder to lose the weight when close to goal. I’m getting super tired of not eating for days & really getting no results. What am I missing? What can I do differently? Any ideas are welcome! Thank you!

Answer

Try not to place too much importance on the scale. You didn’t regain four lbs of fat in four days. At your weight, those extra 4 lbs will likely be poop and water weight, so it’s transitory.

It might be time to change things up a bit. I had to change my whole eating routine to break a stall recently - I was doing lots of comfortable IF, but not getting anywhere, so I stopped fasting for a few days and ate breakfast instead of supper, and things started moving again.
