How much electrolytes do you take while fasting?

Hi everyone! This is my first post in this subreddit. I’ve been experimenting, on and off, with fasting for a year or so, my longest being 5.5 days. However I have difficulty drinking the recommended daily amount of electrolytes. For example, if you use the guide in this subreddit ‘Electrolyte 101’ drinking even half of that leaves me feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I make my own, using the Snake Juice recipe because it is easy to make, has no junk and tastes good. What is your experience with electrolytes?

Answer

I “season to taste” with electrolytes. If I find myself getting light-headed, I take more. If I feel fine, I don’t stress about it.

In my experience as someone who’s done multiple consecutive weekly fasts, (noticeable levels of) electrolyte depletion isn’t something you’re going to experience in the first week.

Have done the recommended amount of snake juice in the past, but lately I’ve been using: https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Electrolyte-Replenish-Rejuvenate-Maltodextrin/dp/B06W9F3X88 I drink one big glass of water a day with one scoop of electrolytes and one scoop of wheatgrass. I don’t think I’ll buy the wheatgrass again.

I eyeball it which isn’t recommended. I made some sea salt coffee thats popular in my area but I made it fasting style so no cal. Some Stevie, which can be controversial.

I also add potatassium to food, just to always be loaded. It isn’t enough. I can give myself a Charlie horse just by messing ny toes around a bit. Got some magnesium capsules or something.. gonna take those daily. Was rec I do by a friend. Will take him up on it.
