OMAD questions and advice

6’3 M, SW 300, CW 282, GW 220

Yesterday was my first fast. I went 23-24 hours and today from 4-5pm I ate. I work night shift 12 hours, so I’ll go to bed tomorrow morning around 7am and wake up at 2-3pm. I plan to eat again between 4-5pm.

First question, that seems very reasonable to me, but maybe I’m thinking wrong? Would there be a better time frame?

Second question, TDEEcalc suggests my maintenance intake is a little over 3000 calories and so I set a goal of 2000 calories, hoping that I could lose around 2lbs a week with that. Am I supposed to eat all 2000 calories in that hour window?

I tried very hard today to hit 2000, but came up to around 1500-1600 and couldn’t go more. I totaled it up to about 3.7lbs of food and i felt like my stomach was going to burst. Is that normal? Also, 2 hours after eating I drank some water and it made my stomach hurt again further making me think I way over ate.

Another question, I ate around 176g carbs, 51g fat, 104g protein. Are those amounts good? The TDEEcalc suggests 153g of carbs and 305g protein but that was difficult for me to achieve. Food suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Answer

Unfortunately for me I’ve rarely felt full in my life. So take it with a grain of salt. I am getting back into OMAD, and every other day eating. I am Keto, but thinking of going carnivore. I hate to say it, but I find if you eat faster, and only take sips of fluid you can eat more. Good luck to you. I wish you luck.

Answer

I work the exact same schedule, and don’t OMAD everyday, but do OMAD most days I work, and your planned eating schedule is how I do it when I’m working. Give it a few weeks, but once you get used to not eating at work, it’s so great. No spending your break heating food, not spending a bunch of money in the vending machines. Tons of energy.
