Hey all. I’ve recently started back up with IF this last month, started with 16:8. Because I work a restaurant job serving in the evenings, figuring out an eating and fasting window has been challenging. I’ll try and fast for 16, but can’t really get all of my calories in before working and feel odd eating and cooking after so close to bedtime since I get off pretty late. IF has worked for me in the past, but I’ve found myself lately trying to push fasting to 18, or 20, and have developed such an irregular eating schedule that it’s been triggering binge eating habits to creep back up. Does anyone have any experience with this? I love how I feel when I fast, and I really want to make this a lifestyle that can work with me and help me to achieve my weight loss goal of 15lbs. I’m just struggling and am looking for any advice, words of encouragement, similar experiences, and how to get back on track with normal and healthy eating habits. Did I start increasing my fasting times too soon? Should I focus on consistence with healthy meals and cut back on fasting for the time being? Any guidance is appreciated, and happy fasting!
IF is not recommended with people with ED. Talk to your doctor and therapist for guidance.I have BED and I talked to them before starting and in my case, with guidance, it helped my BED and cravings. After 5 months with IF they are gone Maybe also cut back on IF for now while your schedule is hectic it until you find something more stable. I used to work in retail days and nights shifts and really long shifts and would have been impossible for me to do IF during that period of my life
I had a similar experience. Lost 4kg in September then put it all back on between October 1 and now due to BED. I’ve got a lot to lose so I’m just working on not snacking after dinner as that’s when I binge the most. I’ve set myself a limit of 14:10. I plan on talking to my therapist about it next month. Definitely get help if you need it.
