Hi guys. Been having great success with rolling 4 day fasts (~96 hrs) so far, having no problem keeping it up. But researching most people suggest 72’s instead. Is this purely to help adherence or is there a health benefit to refeeding slightly more often?
Many people find 72s more difficult, actually. This is because your ghrelin takes a few days to minimize, so you feel much more peckish for the first three days of a longer fast than the days which come after them. There is truly no benefit to doing 72s over 96s: you lose less fat and you are hungrier overall throughout the fast.
If rolling 96s are easy for you stick with it. I dont think in there is a benefit in doing 72s over 96s except you if you cant sustain 96s because you are so lean already that they get really hard then I would suggest switching over to 72s or even 48s.
Also I think according to some graphics (cant say it its true or not) 4 days is the optimal point to get maximum benefits for reasonable fasting length.
