Hello All,
Firstly thank you all for sharing your accomplishments. It has inspired me to to get back on the bandwagon.
I am 34 and have been a binge drinker, smoke and eater for far to long. I am on my ninth day of no longer doing any of these and have started fasting. I have been doing OMAD and if I have had a cheat day it has been 22/2. I only drink water and black coffee throughout the day and do take vitamins in the morning. Have also been walking for at least half an hour every day. You could say I am kind of an all or nothing kind of person except for the exercise portion lol.
I was speaking with a friend of mine last night about the fact that I have lost 5kg/11lbs in this time and he was trying to convince me that this is very unhealthy. I figure the first week is just my body “purging” what it has available and then the loss will slow down substantially soon.
Suppose I am looking for a little reassurance more than anything. Although any input would be appreciated.

This is very common. You’re using a lot of excess gylcogen and thus a big portion of this loss is likely water weight in addition to fat loss. And you’re right that the weight loss will slow down after the big initial loss.
For reference I lost 11lbs in 9 days as well when i started, and since then I’ve lost at almost exactly 2 lbs/week. Started at 230 lbs on December first, today I am 197.
Not sure how much you have to lose but in general, the dangers of being obese/overweight FAR outweigh the dangers of losing weight too quickly.
