I read all of the threads here and I absolutely agree that fasting is a great way to lose weight, get other benefits dependent on fasting length, gain energy throughout the day and everything else.
But to me, the absolute best benefit to fasting is getting the value of food back. Food actually means something, and it’s so exciting now. I get so excited thinking about my next meal etc because it’s generally healthier and better and just a good time. That’s all.
Yes! I look forward to my OMAD meal and really appreciate and savor the smells and taste of food. From being a life long binge eater and mindless eater, IF, prolonged fasting and keto has given me a very healthy outlook on feeding my body and mind. I only wish I found this WOE in my teens.
I agree in that it’s making me more mindful about what I eat. But also I LOVE loooove food too much already, so fasting kind of makes me even more obsessed with it, and what I can eat during my window. And I’m not so sure that’s a good thing…!
I’m experiencing the same thing! I feel like I can really enjoy my food, instead of just stuffing my face.
Another great benefit is that my boat is gone. I used to be bloated all day, every day. But the first change I noticed was the bloat just STOPPED. I could never lose a pound and be happy because I don’t have a bulging, rock hard belly anymore making me feel uncomfortable all the time.
I think it’s ability to alter our gut microbiome might be the most important thing about it and should be considered for people who aren’t trying to lose weight at all. The immune support and anti cancer potential is astonishing.
