First-ever 3-day fast! Should I keep going?

I just discovered the world of water fasting last week, and after an early dinner on Saturday I decided to go for it—and my first-ever fast just hit 72 hours. It was surprisingly easy for me, aside from some sleep disruption. I’m definitely ready for dinner tonight, but I’m wondering if I should keep going and make it a 5-day fast, or more?

If I keep it at 3, I’ll do the same thing next week—Saturday night to Tuesday night, maybe even with some OMAD in between since I really had no trouble or even much hunger for the first 60 hours or so.

But I’m wondering if I shouldn’t stop now and try to go to 5, or even 7+, because I’m not feeling sick or irritated, just hungry (mostly mentally hungry, TBH).

I’m fasting to support my hormones (I’ve got PCOS), lose about 30 pounds, and reset my immune system after the flu and pneumonia over the past few months.

If you were me, what would you do? Celebrate 3 days with a nice vegan meal or push past this hunger and keep on keeping on?

Answer

on my first fast, I stopped while I was feeling happy at a good spot, so that my first experience could stay awesome in my memory, and so that I wouldn’t be put off by the thought of fasting in the future. that’s just me, though! :)

also, amazing job!! :)
