I (adult female) gained lot of weight after losing much weight. It’s a good thing I lost the weight before taking the medication cause perhaps I’d be 300+ at 5’1 if I hadn’t.
I would like to water fast but you all know how it is in 🇺🇸 regarding fasting. People freak out. I did message my doctor just now asking if I’m healthy enough to fast a week.
I seriously hate how big I got.
I used to lose weight so quick, like a pound a day no joke.
Now it’s so slow.
😮💨
Did you get permission from the doctor to water fast or whatever your fasting method is?
Im on antidepressants & antipsychotic meds. I gained a lot of weight when I tried to find right meds for me (SSRI was one of them). I even reached pre diabetes. I started at 210 (5’2) and so far I lost 45lb since this Feb.
If you are new to fasting, I recommend starting with intermittent fasting (18:6) then 24hr, 48, and 72hr. Or OMAD. A fasting for a week is great, but with medication, I didn’t see result that I wanted to see. For me, OMAD and working out regularly helped me the most & I do longer fasting once in a while.
Before I started fasting, I went to doctor & got blood work to see if I have any problem to do fasting. I also asked my psychiatrist if I can take my med empty stomach. I got blood work every 3months too. (Maybe it was unnecessary lol)
With medication, it is so hard especially my hormone is off too. I didn’t lose any weight for last 3 months no matter what (even with several long fastings & working out). Finally I lost 3lbs recently and hope it continues. Don’t get discouraged!!
I too gained a lot of weight, partially due to medical circumstances and a lot due to my own laziness. I just came off a 21 day fast, didn’t lose as much as I hoped but - hey - I’ll take it! I did not have a doctor supervise this, but if I do this again I will. If it means demanding blood tests, or check ups in that time I will do it.
Supplementing with electrolytes is critical. How much weight do you have to lose? This will help determine how long you can safely fast.
