Answer

Rumor has it, that you could lose up to 2 lbs per day dry fasting, so even at max rate every day that would only be 62 lbs in a month. And I have not seen anyone, anywhere, advocate 30 days continuous dry fasting.

You’re looking at the right way though, just have to turn down your expectations from it. Realistically 150 lbs would take about 5 or 6 months, taking into account the usual rises and drops in weight, off days, and just general adaptation.

Dry fasting can do it, but you’d need to give it a lot longer than one month.

Answer

Think about it. You’re taking nothing in. That’s…

At about 8000kcals to 1kg of fat, you can do the maths here - I lose about 0.5kg per day water fasting, somewhere nearer 1kg per day dryfasting.

But don’t forget: if you fail to prepare a total change to those greedy little ways when you finish fasting, be prepared to fail and start again.

It’s worth noting though, that you tend to feel twice as good at half your target weight loss. For example, I always set my goal to my ideal, which is never easy but fortunately I begin to feel good a quarter the way there. By halfway there, I’m often happy enough to stop. It’s amazing how good it can feel even just to stop eating. And I often put it back on by failing to change my ways. That’s what learning is like. I can always fast again, and tend to do better each time.

Answer

This is not a realistic goal, not in one month.

Please also be aware that a lot of toxins get bound up in fat cells and if you were to somehow lose that much and break up such a large proportion of the fat cells that quickly, you could potentially face serious effects.

I think you absolutely should dry fast. I would just start off with a three or five day and see how you tolerate it, then plan for a longer dry fast once you have some experience.

This is a powerful way to heal and can help you begin a weight loss journey, but please do not expect to lose that much that fast. And please know you will experience all sorts of secondary effects during a DF.

Answer

In a month? Well, I know it’s definitely possible to lose weight relatively quickly when fasting. For example, I was 210, but dropped to 155 after 7 months, however, I didn’t truly understand how fasting worked until the last two months.

With my knowledge now, I know that fat loss is relative to how much fat is in you. You should be able to lose fat and weight relatively quickly at your weight. If you were to just walk for miles on end and dry fast until you feel sick, you might be able to reach your goal, but that takes a lot of experience, preparation, and dedication. Doesn’t mean it’s not impossible though!

Answer

The biggest average loss rate I’ve seen is 3lbs/day over a two week dry fast.

I do not recommend dryfasting for long continuous periods due to two factors:

  1. Modern local environments are not pure enough and present polluted air quality; and,

  2. Internal bodily environments, (i.e. adipose tissues) are polluted w stored toxins.

Dryfasting accelerates the rate of previously stored toxins released in circulation from metabolized fat, and combined with less than pristine air quality environments, these can overload and damage the body.

I especially advise against newbies trying to dry fast for more than 5 days for this reason.

It’s likely at ~450lbs you’ve absorbed and stored plenty of crap over the years. Your weight gain also likely didn’t happen in a month:

Best to approach your ambition for rapid weight loss gently and with diet modification leading the way.

Even though fasting is always a powerful intervention…

Diet is destiny.
