I’ll be honest. Your expectations for this single, extended fast, were enormously outsized. It’s factually incorrect to state that there is institutionally recognized, documented evidence that [fasting] is akin to a panacea. What does it even mean to “see” the benefits of stem cell regeneration, autophagy, deep healing in a fast? What did you expect to see? That’s straight snake oil jibberish.
That said, I also don’t believe the benefits of fasts beyond 3-5 days are worth the detriments, to me. I don’t knock people that have personal reasons for doing them, but they’re not worth it to me.
I don’t think there is solid medical evidence for the beneficial health effects (vs harm) from prolonged fasting. Most of the evidence is around either time restricted daily eating, alternate day fasting, or 3-5 day fasts, and research is very much still ongoing. Promising results, but certainly not a cure-all, and some of the benefits are probably just from people losing weight, no matter how they do it.
It’s never a good idea to base your decisions (certainly not of a medical nature) on personal anecdotes of other people. You never know if people lie, exaggerate, they had the results they did for other reasons, placebo, or just chance. Given a large enough population of people, you’ll always have some people with things like unexplainable spontaneous regression of cancer or whatever. If all those people congregate on a forum, you’ll all of a sudden think that happens a lot more often than it actually does, which is almost never. ;)
First off good job, I think you’re being to hard on yourself.
You set some goals and you crushed them. Not to be dr Phil but maybe that never being satisfied has some deeper cause you might want to explore.
Celebrate you did it, it didn’t go so great so probably don’t do it again stick to 3, 5 or 10s.
But yea about your body sounds like you shpuld maybe switch to some heavy lifting and calorie surplus for a bit. Fasting can’t reveal muscles that aren’t there.
Also how old are you? I’m 38 and attempting my first 72 hour fast. Looking forward to this crazy horniness lol

I’m only on day 2 and I’m just so close to eating -.- I’m like 124kg and my upper bmi weight would be around 80kg so I have a loooong way to go >.>
I know that the biggest thing preventing me from losing weight is my inordinate amount of takeout. So I’m trying to eliminate that entirely - it be hard tho.
