Hi guys! I’m 5’9 F SW 280, CW 250, GW 180. I am doing alternate day fasting and keto and am having a SUPER hard time eating enough calories. I chose keto because it makes a big difference in the amount of inflammation I have and fasting because my body literally sings when I don’t eat. I figured keto would just prolong the benefits of IF and keep ketosis going.
I am allergic to dairy, so normal keto is out. I seem to only get 1500 calories in a day, but know I need to make up for the fast days. I just can’t eat that much food. It’s hard to eat more than twice a day. I notice that even though I am well under maintenance, I still don’t lose weight. I figure my body is having issues and is slowing my metabolic rate to compensate.
My question is, should I keep going or give up keto? I know I can get more calories in if I eat things like brown rice, oatmeal etc….. but am scared to lose ketosis and start getting inflammation back. Do you think that ADF is enough to keep the inflammation down without keto? And do you think that I have calorie restricted too much, and that’s why the scale just doesn’t budge? Any help would be appreciated. My case is weird, so I haven’t found anything currently in the subreddit to help me.
Try some hct oil bullet proof coffee. Really helps get you through and gives you energy. I don’t use them anymore but I did. Count your calories and don’t guess. If your not losing your eating. I’m more than you think.
No don’t give up keto! Lol. Maybe your body is perhaps healing? I know once insulin starts to regulate, your body can start healing properly and then start losing weight. Especially if you struggle from hormonal issues. I wouldn’t worry about it so much. I would just eat good stuff till your full and then do your ADF thing. Insulin is a huge factor in weight loss and carb laden foods and eating often will trigger insulin. I would really give it more time and just ride off of not being hungry. Your body will pull energy from fat stores. Just keep going, drink lots of water and electrolytes on fasting days, and focus on how you’re feeling. The weight loss will follow. Is your mood improving? Mental clarity? Happiness?
I really like these two videos! Best of luck!
In my opinion, if your system is sensitive and you are aware of the inflammation response, keto is indispensable. That’s the way it is for me too. I just tortured myself doing IF without keto at the same time.
