I can’t believe I lost 4 pounds. Soo happy! I started fasting on Sunday 2/27. I only planned on fasting for breakfast and lunch on Sunday, but I wanted to try if I can skip dinner and I did! Then I wanted to fast for the whole day Monday. I’m so happy I made it to Tuesday without giving in. Two days of just drinking water! Before the fast I was 280 pounds, now I’m 276 pounds! I started my weight loss journey at the end of January this year at 290 pounds. I might have to eat today. My mom keeps making food and there’s so much leftovers in the fridge that I’m scared she’ll catch on. I haven’t told anyone in my family or group of friends that I’m losing weight. I’m doing this for myself and don’t want to involve people. But I just wanted to share the 4 pound weight loss!
Great work. I find that sunday-tuesday weekly fast to be the best way to schedule it. For me, I eat dinner on sunday then fast until tuesday dinner. This way it only really interferes with the social commitment of one days worth of dinner. Plus, you get to start the week off on a solid foot.
Make this a weekly routine and you’ll start seeing progress in a big way.
Nice work. Keep in mind when fasting it’s normal to lose a bunch of water weight. While this can be encouraging, it is temporary, so don’t be surprised if those pounds show up again once you break your fast.
congrats! sounds like you are committed and experimenting with what works well with your body, keep on! :) don’t be disappointed if some of it comes back as water weight loss. you still helped your insulin response and other metabolic factors even if the scale changes . every time you do an extended fast it gets easier and your body gets better at getting fat adapted. remember this is a process, and you gotta just keep up with it! i definitely can lose 2-3 pounds in a 2 day fast and keep it off if i am doing keto and fat adapted cuz i go into it in ketosis and start fat burning right away & it’s not reflecting water loss so you may keep those 4 pounds off too! the body is so interesting and i love learning how my body reacts to different fasting techniques and types of food :) good luck on the journey!
Fasting is like fight club ;-) I think you will find that a lot of people don’t talk about it. I’m rather open about it but have learned to ignore and not engage those that ‘believe’ this or that without supporting scientific evidence. I’m a nerd who loves the science behind fasting.
But congratulations on your fast! Sounds like you actually started Saturday evening? When was your last meal? Water weight is real, so don’t stress if you regain a little. You are still reaping other fantastic benefits!
Edit-added second paragraph
It was already mentioned, but likely the weight was mostly water weight. And that’s great, too, in it’s own way.
It’s likely you’ll see the weight drop much slow over time, but that should not discourage you. Realistically, a good activity level and fasting could burn a pound a week, more or less. And a pound or so is nothing to sneeze at!
Probably the best advice is to get out of the house/kitchen and only return for sleep. Being near the fridge is a recipe for disaster. Get a hobby, go to the gym work an extra shift etc…just whatever you do stay busy.
