Multiple small fasts or one long fast?

CW: 218 GW: 168

I want to lose around 45-50 pounds and have about 10 weeks to achieve it in (going on holiday).

I know people have achieved astounding results doing a 30 day fast but I’m a beginner and I’m not 100% sure it would be a good idea, also I play sports on a Thursday and again in not sure a big fast could facilitate that.

So would doing maybe a 5/2 split be a good idea? Break my fast on a Wed and start again on a Fri?

Or should I put sports on the back foot and go for something longer like a 14-30 day fast? I’m gonna miss a few weeks with a back injury I suffered this week anyway, so I do have an excuse.

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated, like I say I’m a complete beginner and want to take this seriously and as best I can, thanks!

A bit about my experience diving into water fasting.

I started with a weekly ramp up. I’ve done feeding windows in the past but found I was just voracious with my eating during the window. My current schedule is as follows.

DISCLAIMER: My goals are different than yours losing weight is a side effect for me, my goal was purely mental to see if i could do it, however I have seen weight loss results.

Each week helped me prep for the following week.

For example week 1 taught me that I needed to drink WAY more water than I thought and also started preparing me for how people react socially to the activity.

Week 2 taught me I needed to actively prepare some broth I made a miso broth which was delicious and that I didn’t really need coffee.

Week 3 has taught me that I need to REALLY think about how to get more potassium and magnesium to help with sleep and keto flu.

I want to stress, what’s nice about this schedule is you start to expect your bodies reaction for a given day/time. This REALLY helps prepare your self mentally as one of the most difficult parts for me is mentally over coming fight or flight response.

I don’t want to post my weight results because your results for the same schedule will be different. I’ll say for my weight the results are very noticeable, but I enjoy the “clarity” effect as well as how much I enjoy the taste of food after I’m done with a fast. Food tastes FUCKING INCREDIBLE, lastly it certainly helps with the wallet.

I hope this post helps good luck with your goals.

Edit: I structured my fasts around things that were important to me. I love hosting dinner/cocktail parties on the weekends.
