I’m 37 hour in on my fast. So far it’s been water only. I don’t really have a deadline exactly. I want to do a 5 day fast at some point. So when I decided to start this fast I just wanted to see how far I could make it on my first try as a base line. I’m 6’2” and around 310 pounds (weight was 308 on the scale but I don’t know if I did it at a proper time or anything. I just did it. Was probably 6 hours into the fast). I just woke up, and starting drinking water. Drank a good bit yesterday. And in fact, even eith my love for food and sugar and such. I always was one to drink lots of water. But for some reason this morning (my version of morning. I’m a night shift person) it’s tasting… funny? Idk I can’t really compare it to anything. But it just doesn’t taste good. Never in my life have I had to feel line I was forcing myself to drink water. I need it, as I was obviously asleep and not drinking any. But it’s just not good. Is that normal? And what else can I expect? Also. For electrolytes, I am googling and trying to learn what I can do that won’t negatively effect any of the positives in fasting. Meaning. I don’t want to take anything that will effect the reduction of glucose or insulin, or mTOR, and won’t effect the increase in HGH, Ketone, and autophagy. Etc. I have many various vitamins and such I can take in pill form. B12, d, C, multivitamins, etc. I assume those are ok? And what about “liquid IV” for the hydration? It has all the good stuff I need as far as electrolytes as far as i can tell. But it’s got some calories and sugar. But I have read that keeping under a certain calorie count don’t effect anything during a fast so I am not sure. I haven’t had any issues yet. But I do know that I cramp easy and so I may at something have to deal with that if I don’t deal with the issue soon. Maybe using only part of the liquid IV package?
I am doing carnivore and fasting, nice as I’m extreme low carb on feeding days already. I choose to hold off on my supplements on fast days to promote autophagy. I add salt and nosalt to my water and doing 3 day fasts every week for weight loss. I wonder if your change in taste is related to some autophagy going on?? I find the salty water I drink refreshing. Someone mentioned adding a bit of sugar free pickle juice. You may need to add sodium, potassium and magnesium to your water. The electrolyte packets sold are so pricy, so easy to make your own. Glad you are on board with fasting and I hope you get great results.
