OMAD is how I survive work travel

I got a new job in the past year that regularly sends me to random places for 2-7 days at a time. Being on the road is already a recipe for binging and snacking, but the typical stressful 13 hour days I work when I’m on the road would lead to very poor food decisions -

Except I don’t!, thanks to OMAD. I bring shelf-stable, portable meals with me, and knowing I have a great big heaping plateful of my favorite nutritious foods waiting at the hotel, no need to stop anywhere after I’m done for the day, it feels like my daily well-earned reward. Being petite, 1500 calories is above what I typically would eat in a day, but since I’m on my feet, lifting stuff and moving around on site, I can really have a luxurious meal and pass out for the night feeling full and accomplished. It also lets me have quiet time to get work done when the rest of the team breaks for lunch!

Since people are probably going to ask, these are the foods I usually bring with me, and I’ll snag a Greek yogurt from the hotel breakfast bar for my cooling dessert after hot curry dinner! Yes, they have a lot of sodium. High BP is not an issue for me.

I use OMAD too for a couple reasons. I am waiting on jaw surgery and eating sucks. It’s difficult and usually causes ny face to swell from the pain, which then leads to breathing issues. So eating once a day gets it out of the way and then my jaw gets a long break. The other reason is because I am a binge eater to a fault, so with OMAD I can binge eat but it’s controlled because I can’t usually eat more than 1500 cats in one shot. Probably not the healtiest, idk, but its what works well for my bad jaw and my binge demon

Answer

My company pays for meals while traveling, unfortunately if I don’t eat I can’t pocket the money. Therefore there is always a temptation to eat well on the company dollar.

But on the other hand, while traveling alone I’m not held to anyone else’s schedule so it’s easy to do even longer fasts than I normally would.

I’m 50 hours into a fast on a company trip as I type.
